I’m super excited to tell you about (book/author/bookish-news)…
I’m really upset by (book/author/bookish-news)…
I can’t wait to get a copy of…
I wish I could read ____, but…
I blogged about ____ this past week…

THIS WEEK’S RANDOM QUESTION: Do you like or dislike series books?

I’m currently reading… Rick Riordan’s demigod books.
I didn’t intend to be rushing through them like this, it just sort of happened. I thought I would read them a little at a time while reading other things and just work my way through them all slowly, but apparently not! Once I started I just couldn’t stop. I’ve gone through 8 since the 13th of the month and I’m starting another one in the morning!

In fact, reading one of those books is the reason this post is going up after midnight (and therefore not technically on Monday). I got caught up reading and didn’t even notice the time!

Do you like or dislike series books?
I love a good series. I mean, my favorite genre is YA Fantasy, which really lends itself well to the series format. Also I just hate to leave a world and characters I enjoy!

But I have to admit lately, especially with all these really popular series going on, I sometimes find myself wishing for a quality stand-alone!

  1. Mansfield Park by Jane Austen
  2. The earliest intelligence of the travellers’ safe arrival in Antigua after a favourable voyage, was received; though not before Mrs. Norris had been indulging in very dreadful fears, and trying to make Edmund participate them whenever she could get him alone; and as she depended on being the first person made acquainted with any fatal catastrophe, she had already arranged the manner of breaking it to all the others, when Sir Thomas’s assurances of their both being alive and well, made it necessary to lay by her agitation and affectionate preparatory speeches for a while.
  3. Uh…no… I kind of hate the Bertrams. Kind of a lot, in fact.

  1. Mind Games (Mind Games, book 1) by Kiersten White
  2. I wish my left arm didn’t hurt so much I wanted to die, because it also means I can’t tap tap tap my leg, and without that fidget I don’t know how to stop the thoughts and feelings flooding through me.
  3. Honestly at this point I don’t know nearly enough about this world to know if I would like it or not… I do like the idea of mind powers. (And do my eyes deceive me or are they exclusive to women? I do like that.) So perhaps I’ll say yes, but I have a feeling I’ve yet to come upon some crucial detail that will make me regret saying yes!
