- Sixty teenagers pretended to head for their cars, but in fact, paused to watch and listen. Their slow-motion walk was eerie, as if choreographed.

- Lying in bed, I could see out through both of the screened French doors, each of which framed a great sheet of empty sky. This sky, as seen through the north door, was pale blue and hazy; to the east, it was aglow with the flames of sunrise. I lay still for a time, watching, mesmerized, as the two spatial areas went through minute-by-minute alterations. The north sky grew brighter and clearer; the east sky softened to pink, and then, as shade melted into shade in fluid transition, became the same clear blue as its sister next door.
- Oh, suuuure, sign me up for the evil step-mom, toootally.

- The Phantom Tollbooth by Norton Juster
- Milo and Tock wondered what strange adventures lay ahead. The Humbug speculated on how he’d ever become involved in such a hazardous undertaking. And the crowd waved and cheered wildly, for, while they didn’t care at all about anyone arriving, they were always very pleased to see someone go.
- I mean the heart says yes, but the brain says no. The logical part of me is like “you would go insane” and the emotional part of me is like “THAT WOULD BE THE MOST AMAZING FUN PLACE TO EVER LIVE”. So that’s me confused.
