What Are You Reading Wednesday: February 1, 2017

What Are You Reading Wednesdays #WAYRW is a weekly feature on It’s A Reading Thing. Everyone is welcome to participate.

Grab the book you are currently reading and answer three questions:

  1. What’s the name of your current read?
  2. Go to page 34 in your book or 34% in your eBook and share a couple of sentences.
  3. Would you like to live in the world that exists within your book? Why or why not?

  1. Prophecy of the Sisters by Michelle Zink
  2. There is no ladylike way to tell him to push all he wants, that his mouth and body on mine are the only things keeping me from losing my hold on a reality I never questioned until these past days.
  3. I mean, at this point it seems nice enough even with the weird mystery, so sure… But only if I can be one of the girls with powers!

    • I’m only on page 99 right this minute (beginning of chapter 10). I was a little worried it was going to suck at first because of the religion aspect and because of how slowly the mystery started, but I’m actually starting to really enjoy it.

Lia automatically assumes she’s the “good sister” and honestly I feel like she’s probably right, because that’s how books usually do it, the narrator is the good one. But I have to say, I would die of joy if it turns out she’s the “bad twin” all along and just a very unreliable narrator…

So far my only real complaint is that sometimes the writing drags a little, or Lia will stop thinking about something way before I’m ready for it to stop being the topic of thought and I can’t always figure out why she chooses to stop and go to bed at that moment and that sort of thing.

I’ll try to post some more about how this book is going as I get farther into it.

      • I like books with unreliable narrators, so maybe I’ll read this book and see how it goes. Yes!! I extremely hate it when this happen. They introduce an important topic and think about it but then abruptly stops and that annoys the hell out of me. Thank you and I can’t wait to read your updates!

      • Honestly I sometimes wonder if I think about things too much or something, because in books they always stop way before I’m ready to stop!

If it turns out the good thing happens and Lia is an unreliable narrator, I will be the happiest reader. I love a book that makes me think I know what’s up and then turns the tables!
